Getting the app
The Apple app is still in preview, with no public app download. Existing testers need the build supplied to them. The home page examples are interactive previews. Check release status for app availability.
The notibuddy 0.2 CLI and MCP server are published on npm. They require Node.js 20 or later and an approved connection to an installed app. A package install alone does not pair a device or enable the upcoming iPad/Watch launch.
Report a concern
If you receive unwanted, offensive or harmful content, you can report it to Yourbit support. Reporting is optional and separate from disconnecting the sender; you do not need to send a report to stop a connection.
In current test builds on iPhone or iPad:
- Open a request’s options or a sender’s details in Connect, then choose Report a concern. While reply sharing is paused, use Connect → Manage connections.
- Choose a concern and briefly describe what happened. Describe harmful material without attaching images or files. Do not paste pairing setup messages, private keys, access tokens, purchase receipts or other people’s private information.
- If useful, enable Include connection references. This adds the displayed account, sender-key and request references when available. It is off initially. These references help identify a connection; they do not grant access or prove who controls it.
- Choose Review report and check the exact text. Use Open email to support, then finish sending in your email app. Opening email does not confirm delivery.
If email cannot open, choose Copy report and send it with your usual email service, or use Share a copy…. Check the recipient before sending. If your build does not have the reporting controls, you can write a brief description directly to contact@notibuddy.app. On Watch, use the reporting instructions to continue on your iPhone, or contact support directly.
The app does not automatically attach sender names, message content, replies or files. Your email or sharing service may add your contact details or signature. A shared report leaves NotiBuddy’s encrypted connection and is handled by the service and recipient you choose. Read how concern reports are handled.
Support uses what you choose to provide to investigate and respond, and may ask for clarification. Yourbit cannot decrypt the content stored by the relay or recall copies already received by a sender. A report does not automatically suspend another connection or delete an account.
Stop unwanted requests
Open Connect, select the sender, choose Disconnect connection and review the confirmation. While reply sharing is paused, use Manage connections. Identify the sender by its Sender Key ID: different senders may use the same display name, and all agents, apps and scripts using one key share its access.
In current test builds, Blocked on this device means new requests, replies and file sends for that key are blocked locally. Awaiting relay confirmation means the service has not yet confirmed disconnection. Other devices, including your Watch, may still receive requests until that confirmation. Keep the app open with internet access, or use Retry disconnection. If the app says it could not save the local block, the block has not been established; unlock the device and retry.
Disconnecting cannot recall a reply or file already transmitted or a copy saved by its recipient. Keep your original setup message private: disconnecting one sender key does not invalidate that setup message. If you also shared a still-active automatic setup code, use Cancel code in the connection setup screen to stop its automatic acceptance. Without a valid automatic code, a new sender key still needs your approval.
Connecting your AI
Open Connect → Add a connection (or Add if you already have a connection). If your supplied app build offers Create setup code, tap it, then Share Setup. Otherwise use Share Setup directly. Run the shared command on the computer or server where the sender runs, and keep NotiBuddy open and online until connected. The published 0.2.9 client supports both flows; installing it does not add automatic setup to an older app build.
An automatic code lasts ten minutes and can connect only the first eligible new sender. Share it only with someone you trust. Later new senders using that setup require approval: compare the full Sender Key ID in Terminal and Connect before approving. An unchanged, already approved sender stays connected when setup is repeated. A newer manual approval request replaces the previous pending request, while approved senders remain connected.
If setup times out, keep the app open and retry the same command with the same destination name; do not delete saved keys. Use Retry setup for interrupted preparation, or Create a new code after expiry or cancellation. Use manual approval instead shares instructions without an automatic code. It does not cancel an existing code: use Cancel code and confirm to stop automatic acceptance. Canceling does not disconnect an approved sender or revoke ordinary pairing credentials in shared copies.
Your AI app must support local MCP servers. Its setup may require a restart before the NotiBuddy tools appear. Use the setup guide and verify the connection with a question you can answer on your phone.
Version 0.2 requires a named destination, such as --to personal, in MCP startup arguments and sending commands. Use the alias you paired. npx -y notibuddy@^0.2.9 doctor --to personal checks relay access, approval, protocol support, and file-receive setup. The status command only inspects saved local configuration.
A notification hasn’t arrived
- Check that the computer is awake and the AI session is still running.
- Check internet access on both devices.
- Allow NotiBuddy notifications in iPhone Settings and check Focus settings.
- Open NotiBuddy to refresh pending requests.
- Check whether the free request allowance has been used.
I replied, but the AI hasn’t continued
The AI must check for your reply. A reply cannot restart a conversation that has already ended. Keep the AI session running and ask it to check the pending NotiBuddy question. New ordinary requests allow three hours to reply by default and at most; the sender can choose a shorter deadline. Checking again does not extend it. An expired question needs a new request and must never be treated as approval.
Pause or cancel hasn’t stopped the task
These controls send a request to the connected AI. The AI needs to check for it and stop the work itself. NotiBuddy does not directly terminate processes on your computer.
A shared file is waiting
The receiving computer must collect it; there is no automatic background receiver. On the phone, open Connect → a connection → Share File, tap the waiting file under Recent files, and choose Copy receive command. Run that command where the connection was paired. Or ask your connected AI to use notibuddy_files_list and notibuddy_files_receive. The setup guide includes CLI commands.
Receive files before their 24-hour deadline. “Delivered” means verified, decrypted, and saved on the receiving computer, not opened or read by an agent. If the result is saved_pending_receipt, retry the same file ID to confirm delivery. A storage error does not confirm delivery; free space and retry. Received local copies stay until you delete them.
Replacing a phone or restoring purchases
On a replacement device, create a fresh connection and pair your sender again. Old messages, private keys, and pairings are not recovered; no recovery code is required. When purchases are available, use Settings → Restore purchases with the purchasing Apple Account to restore paid access.
The planned launch allows one primary iPhone or iPad destination on Free, three on Annual, and twelve on Lifetime, with one included paired Watch per iPhone. Paid plans and direct Watch delivery are still in launch testing. In current test builds, Settings → Devices linked to purchases lets you review and remove purchase links, including retained inactive links. This list is not an active-slot count. In Settings, under Recover a previous purchase, Replace previous devices and restore returns other paid destinations to Free without deleting their separate accounts or messages. Review the confirmation before using it. Deleted accounts stay deleted; restoring purchases only restores access.
Delete your account
In the iPhone or iPad app, open Settings → Delete account, then confirm Delete account and data. Once deletion is confirmed, this account’s devices and senders lose access and its service records and this device’s local data are removed, subject to the retention exceptions in our privacy notice. Devices with separate accounts using the same Apple purchase keep their own connections. If confirmation is pending, other devices may still receive requests; use Retry account deletion in Settings and keep the app online. Use Manage subscriptions separately to stop an Apple subscription from renewing. Your computer files and your AI app’s history need to be removed in those apps.
